Quick & inexpensive way to update your home security

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Replace the screws in your strike plates, in your door frame, with 3″ decking or anchor screws. Be sure to drive them all the way into the stud. Replacing them one at a time is easier too, so you won’t have to hold the plate while you replace the screws. This makes it much tougher to kick in doors.

HEP did a great job for me

Saturday, August 28th, 2010 | Uncategorized | No Comments

I always like to give credit when someone does a great job. I discovered my air conditioner wasn’t working this morning. It was 81 degrees in my house when I woke up. I called HEP, Inc. to check out my AC unit. They responded in less that an hour. The problem was fixed right away and the technician, Daniel, was great! Thank you to HEP, Inc. for doing a great job!

Garage door break in

Please take the time to remove the emergency string from your garage door and zip tie your release so no one can break in your garage door. It is especially important if you have glass panels in your garage door.

“Bargain Safes”

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Is your safe a “bargain” ? We had a customer bring in a safe that had her medication in it. She had purchased it at a home center. But when the combination lock had failed, she need us to open it for her. She said that she, “didn’t care how it was opened, she just needed in right away”.  Ron, who works here, is 65, and forced it open in under 5 minutes! Be sure your safe isn’t made of plastic and drywall on the inside! Fire safes that are sold at home centers do exactly what their name implies: they protect against FIRE. Don’t assume that a fire safe will protect against a forced attack.  We have a picture of it on our Facebook page.

What’s your worst “lock out” experience?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010 | Lock out stories | No Comments

I’ve  seen a lot of wierd “lock out” situations during my 21 years in the lock industry. I’ve  been called to open cars with the windows down, keys hanging in the door lock, cars with doors already unlocked,  and a number of others! What’s your “lock out” story?? We’d love to share it with others!
